New Season – Spring 2021 trends

The season of spring is upon us. Fashion trends evolve in line with the warmer weather, new plants and flowers blooming. Spring is a transition season and often challenging to dress for – as the weather graduates from the cold winter, there’s still a cool freeze that permeates the early and late hours of the day. This presents a challenge for most people’s wardrobes.

This month we’ll share the detail on how to continue rocking your leather ensembles during this transition period, as well as which colours to wear to ensure you’re on-trend.

Most people aren’t aware that you can continue rocking leather in the warmer seasons. Not only is this chic, but it also gives an edgy look to your personal style.

A few items you need in your wardrobe to achieve this look with leather:

  • Shorts – a well-tailored pair of leather shorts can be paired with a tank/tee and layered with a lightweight blazer. Roll up the sleeves to achieve a more casual and effortless look. For a more sophisticated style, keep the colours monochromatic. You can also dress this look by pairing the shorts with a crisp white shirt.

  • Cropped leather jacket – this versatile piece can be dressed up or down. Mixed media jackets, for example, made with leather and lace are a must-have item. The jacket can be worn in the office or for formal occasions over a shift dress.  You can also dress it down with a pair of fitting jeans. Finish this look with some strappy sandals.

  • Cropped leather pants – a lightweight leather pair of cropped pants brings your style game on. This is another versatile piece that can be partnered with a shirt and blazer for a formal look. Pants can also be dressed down with a lightweight print shirt, cotton tee or cropped top.

  • Leather skirt –  whether calf length and form-fitting or above the knee with pleats, leather skirts add a touch of sophistication to your wardrobe. This look is a winner if you pair it with strappy sandals or nude pumps and top it off with a cloche hat.

To make your pieces blend across seasons, look for leather in pastel hues or bright colours that reflect the heat. Also, invest in perforated leather pieces for extra ventilation on warm days. You can also invest in leather pieces made from lightweight leather such as lambskin. Thinly lined leather is good for sweat absorption. Always pair your leather items with statement pieces from softer fabrics.

Colours to look out for

Mellow yellow

This is a beautiful soft hue of yellow and can easily be mistaken for a pastel. This colour will definitely give a pop to any outfit. Think tops, dresses, shorts and even handbags – this tone will definitely be the statement piece of your outfit.

Popping pink

Popping pink is a shade between neon and pastel hence has an appealing edge to it. This colour is bold and comes in a variety of shades. It is perfect for outerwear and a great accompaniment to accessories.

Purplish red

This eye-catching colour showed up on the runway with popular designers adding this to their collection. Purplish red has many hues ranging from shades of magenta some with more purple, others closer to pink and red. It’s a beautiful shade to encompass in spring as it reflects the colour of dark Rosaleen flowers.

Vibrant orange

Not new to this season – bright, edgy and vibrant, orange is back this spring. It can be worn in monochrome or paired with lighter shades of pink, nude, black and denim. Make a bold statement in a fashionable chunky airy knit, well-fitting distressed jeans and strappy sandals.

Tennis ball green

This colour is a kind of neon yellow with a pastel green tint. The colour is perfect for those airy spring days. Tennis ball green looks classy on blazers and shorts or cropped pant combos and can be paired with a staple white tank or tee-shirt.

The beauty of the tips about spring is that they guide your fashion essentials for summer. So get onto the fashion wagon early to ensure you are prepped to represent.
